In the end they ” said goodbye” with the fluke, while they dived again. Thanks to this picture we were able to identify the species, but the captain immediately said: “Umpback wales”.

We were coming back by vessel from the Billefjorden, when suddenly we heard an unmistakable puff. They were tree humpback wales, very big wales that rarely are spotted in these waters. We were all in silence, on the boat’s deck, waiting that they reappear on the surface. Every surfacing was an incredible emotion!

…and has finished very late, at 20:30 finally we close the long filming session. Here we are on the Longyearbyen’s beach, the desire to swim is big, but the clima is too extreme, inspite of the wonderful sunny day. We enjoy anyway the light warmth.

They are small, clumsy and fearful, but how likeable they are! I shot this picture form the boat, when the poor puffin was trying to take off, scared by the vessel. They nest on high cliffs overhanging the sea and eat fish. We were in the Billefjorden, what an amazing place!

Finally we arrived! Yesterday at 14:00 we landed in Longyearbyen. Here we are in a moment of euphoria, with the legendary Lilith that, as you can see, is very close to the childbirth!

Here we are! This morning in front of the Milano station with my new travel companion Luga Ogata, loaded as donkeys as usual! Now we are in Oslo and tomorrow mornig we leave to Longyearbyen.
